FAQsHelp is Here For HealthcareYes. Due to substantial federal funding cuts, the Cover Kansas program will officially end on August 27, 2025. However, support for health insurance enrollment will continue through other partners, including Kansas Cares and participating health centers. The Health Insurance Marketplace is a federal website where individuals and families can compare and purchase health insurance plans. It’s designed to make it easier to find affordable, comprehensive coverage that fits your needs and budget. You can access the Marketplace at HealthCare.gov. Most U.S. citizens and lawfully present immigrants are eligible to enroll in a Marketplace plan. Eligibility is based on factors like income, household size, and access to other health insurance options (such as Medicaid, Medicare, or employer-sponsored coverage). Open Enrollment typically runs from November 1 through January 15 each year. This is the time when anyone can apply for, renew, or change their Marketplace health insurance plan for the upcoming year. You may still qualify for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) if you’ve experienced certain life events, such as losing your health insurance, getting married or divorced, having a baby or adopting a child, moving to a new ZIP code, becoming a U.S. citizen, or experiencing a change in household income. Special Enrollment Periods typically last for 60 days from the date of the qualifying event. Many people who apply through the Marketplace qualify for premium tax credits or cost-sharing reductions based on income and household size. These savings can make monthly premiums and out-of-pocket costs much more affordable. Use the Community Care Health Center Locator to find a health center near you with a Certified Application Counselor, or visit KansasCares.org to find in-person support across the state. Thrive Allen County is a nonprofit organization based in Iola, Kansas. They lead the Kansas Cares program, which connects people across the state to in-person help for enrolling in health insurance plans. While the Cover Kansas program is ending, CCNK remains committed to supporting access to health insurance and health care services across Kansas through our member health centers and statewide partnerships. |
